Frequently Asked Questions

What Surfaces can I use Kroma Crackle on?

Kroma crackle can be used on both rigid and flexible surfaces such as paper, fabric, leather, canvas, wood, and metal. An absorbent surface such as canvas or paper should be sealed with a layer of acrylic paint or clear acrylic medium before applying crackle. Very smooth surfaces such as metal should be sanded before applying crackle to ensure adhesion.

How thick should I apply Kroma Crackle?

For visible cracks to form KROMA crackle should be applied in a layer at least 1mm thick. Thicker applications will create wider cracks. If the layer of crackle is too thin very little cracking will occur or the cracks will be hardly visible. To ensure a thick enough layer is applied we recommend using a palette knife or similar tool to spread the crackle gel. Using a brush tends to make it more difficult to achieve a layer of adequate thickness for effective cracking to occur.

How do I clean up Kroma Crackle?

KROMA crackle is water based and cleans up easily using soap and water.
